Produce

BarleyBeal Farm is an arable farm (producing only crops) which provides the following goods :

Wheat – Used for flour and bread and biscuit production, as well as animal feed

Barley – For malting to produce whisky, For brewing to make beer and for animal feed.

Peas – Both for human and animal food.

Beans – both for human and animal production.

Oilseed rape – For use in margarines and cooking oils as well as for fuel and mechanical lubricants.

Together with these direct crops, by-products of the cereal harvest such as straw have a use for both animal feed and bedding.

As part of the Country Stewardship Agreements, Beal Farm also produces many less tangible harvests in the form of beetle banks and field margins which provide birds with a bumper “Harvest” of insects or the “Harvest” of nutritious grasses established specifically for wading birds.
