Castle Vale Bed and Breakfast

Our delightful and secluded guest house in Berwick-upon-Tweed was built in the 1850s. It is 100 yards from the mainline railway station and a 10 minute walk into town. It has ample off-street parking and its own beautiful garden with spectacular views of the River Tweed. Constable Tower, a remnant of Berwick's thirteenth century castle, stands in our grounds.

Lindisfarne Priory

Lindisfarne Priory was one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. It is still a place of pilgrimage today, the dramatic approach across the causeway adding to its fascination. Founded by St Aidan in AD635, the site owes its fame to St Cuthbert, the greatest of Northumbrian holy men, who lived and died there. Wander around the atmospheric ruins, and visit the refurbished museum. There you will discover the fascinating story of the monks who lived on Holy Island until the monastery was suppressed in 1537.

Belford village

The old coaching village of Belford still has the original 18th century coaching inn but is also blessed with a doctor's surgery, dentist, post office, chemist, launderette, craft gallery and a fish and chip shop! There are pubs and a supermarket and a cash point. Belford is a very active village with concerts and events always on. You can even join in the annual Fun Run, Pancake Day and wheel barrow races or New Years Eve torchlight procession if you like!

Hobthrush Cottage, Holy Island

Enjoy splendid, uninterrupted, panoramic views of the sea, St. Cuthbert's Island, and the Causeway from this beautiful 19th century stone built fisherman's cottage. Recently renovated throughout, Hobthrush provides a luxury coastal holiday retreat on Holy Island.
